Maki-e Round Small Plate
Maki-e Round Small Plate
Maki-e — Japanese Artistry on Glass
A distinctive YOSHIHIKO FUJII creation that brings the traditional Japanese art of Maki-e into a contemporary form.
The decorative design is precisely engraved from the reverse side of the glass using laser technology. Special lacquer is then carefully applied to the engraved areas, followed by layers of foil and fine gold or silver powder. The surface is finished with additional lacquer and our original dishwasher-safe coating.
Because the decoration is created on the reverse side, the upper glass surface remains beautifully smooth while the Maki-e design appears to float within the glass. This unique construction also helps protect the delicate decorative finish during use.
The interplay of transparent glass, lacquer, metallic foil, and shimmering powders creates depth and brilliance that change subtly with the light.
Ideal for refined Japanese cuisine, amuse-bouche, desserts, confectionery, and sophisticated presentations in fine restaurants and luxury hotels.
